Tvorba zisku a straty: krátkodobá rovnováha a maximalizácia zisku

Profit and loss formation: short-run equilibrium and profit maximisation

Ing.

Blok 1 – Prednáška vysvetlí pojmy: zisk a strata, výsledok hospodárenia, náklady, krátke a dlhé obdobie, pravidlo MR = MC a bod zastavenia.

How the chapter is built: 120 minutes in three blocks. Block 1 – Lecture explains the concepts: profit and loss, the business result, costs, the short and long run, the MR = MC rule and the shutdown point. Block 2 – Practice drills them on examples from the simplest to the hardest. Block 3 – Case study brings everything together on one model practice and prepares you for the mini-project.

Po kapitole by ste mali vedieť:After the chapter you should be able to:
  • vypočítať zisk, prevádzkový výsledok a čistý zisk a rozlíšiť účtovný a ekonomický zisk,
  • rozdeliť náklady na fixné a variabilné a vysvetliť rozdiel medzi krátkym a dlhým obdobím,
  • povedať, koľko stojí ešte jeden pacient, a rozhodnúť, či sa oplatí (MR = MC),
  • vysvetliť, kedy sa oplatí pracovať aj so stratou a kedy zastaviť,
  • zostaviť cenník, náklady, bod zvratu a opatrenie pre vlastnú ambulanciu.
  • calculate profit, operating result and net profit and tell accounting from economic profit,
  • split costs into fixed and variable and explain the short and long run,
  • say what one more patient costs and decide whether it pays (MR = MC),
  • explain when it pays to operate at a loss and when to stop,
  • put together a price list, costs, break-even and a measure for your own practice.

Block 1: Lecture – profit, costs and profit maximisation

1.1 Čo je zisk a prečo na ňom záleží

1.1 What profit is and why it matters

Prečo na tom záleží

Why it matters

Musí platiť nájom, mzdy a lieky.

No profit, no new ultrasound. A veterinary practice helps animals, but it is also a business. It must pay rent, wages and drugs. If it makes a loss for long, it closes. Profit is the money the practice uses to buy new equipment, pay for training or raise wages.

Profit is what is left of sales after paying all costs. If costs are higher than sales, there is a loss.

JednoduchoSimply Zisk = tržby − náklady.Profit = sales − costs.

Príklad: ambulancia za mesiac utŕži 8 000 € a zaplatí 5 000 € (nájom, mzdy, lieky). Zisk je 8 000 − 5 000 = 3 000 €.

Example: a practice takes in €8,000 a month and pays €5,000 (rent, wages, drugs). Profit is 8,000 − 5,000 = €3,000.

Teória

Theory

Veterinár sa so ziskom stretne v troch rolách.

A vet meets profit in three roles. As the owner of a practice they decide prices and how many patients to accept. As an employee they know their salary is paid from the clinic's sales. As a farmer's advisor they help decide whether treatment or prevention pays off.

What this lecture answers: what counts as a cost, how costs change with the number of patients, and how many patients a practice should treat to earn the most.

1.2 Účtovný a ekonomický zisk

1.2 Accounting and economic profit

Teória

Theory

An accountant counts only costs the practice actually paid. An economist also asks: what did the owner give up by opening their own practice? For example, the salary they would earn as an employee.

Explicit costs are money that really left the account: rent, wages, drugs, energy.

JednoduchoSimply Náklady, ktoré vidno na faktúre.Costs you can see on an invoice.

Implicit costs are money the owner could have earned elsewhere but did not. Most often the salary they would get as an employee.

Costs not seen on any invoice, but real.

Ekonomický zisk = účtovný zisk mínus mzda, ktorú by majiteľ zarobil inde.
The rule in wordsAccounting profit = sales minus costs we paid.
Economic profit = accounting profit minus the salary the owner would earn elsewhere.

Normal profit means economic profit is zero: the owner earns exactly what they would earn as an employee.

JednoduchoSimply Ani lepšie, ani horšie ako v zamestnaní.Neither better nor worse than in a job.

Otázka pre študentov:Question for students: MVDr. Marek má vo vlastnej ambulancii účtovný zisk 3 000 € mesačne. Ako zamestnanec by zarobil 2 500 €. Aký je jeho ekonomický zisk?Dr. Marek has an accounting profit of €3,000 a month in his own practice. As an employee he would earn €2,500. What is his economic profit?
RiešenieSolution

3 000 − 2 500 = 500 €. Vlastná ambulancia mu prináša o 500 € mesačne viac, ako by zarobil v zamestnaní. Oplatí sa mu.

3,000 − 2,500 = €500. His own practice brings him €500 a month more than a job would. It pays off.

1.3 Ako sa skladá výsledok hospodárenia

1.3 How the business result is built

The business result is the difference between revenues and costs for a period. Profit strengthens the business; a loss weakens it.

JednoduchoSimply Jedno číslo, ktoré zhrnie celé obdobie. One number that sums up the whole period.

The result has several "floors". For managing the practice the operating result matters most; for the owner, net profit.

1. Prevádzkový výsledok1. Operating resultZ hlavnej činnosti praxe: ošetrenia, predaj liekov a krmív.From the practice's main work: treatments, sale of medicines and feed.
2. Finančný výsledok2. Financial resultZ práce s peniazmi: úroky z úveru alebo z vkladu. From working with money: interest on a loan or a deposit.
3. Výsledok pred zdanením3. Result before taxPrevádzkový + finančný výsledok.Operating + financial result.
4. Čistý zisk4. Net profitČo ostane po zaplatení dane z príjmov. What remains after income tax.

DefiníciaDefinition Prevádzkový výsledok ukazuje, koľko prax zarobila svojou hlavnou činnosťou. Úroky ani dane doň nepatria, preto najlepšie ukazuje, ako dobre prax funguje. The operating result shows how much the practice earned from its main work. Interest and taxes are left out, so it shows best how well the practice works.

JednoduchoSimply Výnosy z ošetrení a predaja − náklady na prevádzku.Revenues from treatments and sales − operating costs.

Net profit is what remains after interest and tax have been paid. It belongs to the owner, who decides whether to take it out or reinvest it in the practice.

JednoduchoSimply Je zvyčajne nižší ako prevádzkový zisk.It is usually lower than operating profit.

Treatment sales are €9,000, operating costs €7,500, loan interest €100 and tax 20%. What are operating profit and net profit?
RiešenieSolution
prevádzkový zisk: 9 000 − 7 500 =operating profit: 9,000 − 7,500 =1 500 €€1,500
pred zdanením: 1 500 − 100 =before tax: 1,500 − 100 =1 400 €€1,400
daň: 20 % z 1 400 =tax: 20% of 1,400 =280 €€280
čistý zisk: 1 400 − 280 =net profit: 1,400 − 280 =1 120 €€1,120

1.4 Fixné a variabilné náklady

1.4 Fixed and variable costs

Teória

Theory

Niektoré náklady platíme vždy, aj keď nepríde ani jeden pacient. Iné vzniknú len vtedy, keď pacienta ošetríme. Toto rozdelenie je pre rozhodovanie najdôležitejšie.

Some costs are paid always, even if no patient comes. Others arise only when we treat a patient. This split is the most important one for decisions.

DefiníciaDefinition Fixné náklady sa nemenia s počtom pacientov.Fixed costs do not change with the number of patients.

We pay them even with zero patients: rent, equipment lease, insurance, software.

DefiníciaDefinition Variabilné náklady rastú s každým pacientom.Variable costs rise with each patient.

JednoduchoSimply Každý pacient pridá vakcínu, striekačku, rukavice, test. Each patient adds a vaccine, syringe, gloves, a test.

Fixné náklady

Fixed costs

  • nájom ambulancie
  • leasing röntgenu
  • poistenie
  • ordinačný softvér
  • practice rent
  • X-ray lease
  • insurance
  • practice software

Variabilné náklady

Variable costs

  • vakcíny a lieky
  • striekačky, rukavice, gáza
  • laboratórne testy
  • benzín na výjazdy na farmy
  • vaccines and drugs
  • syringes, gloves, gauze
  • lab tests
  • fuel for farm visits
Pravidlo slovamiCelkové náklady = fixné náklady + variabilné náklady na jedného pacienta × počet pacientov. The rule in wordsTotal costs = fixed costs + variable cost per patient × number of patients.
Rent is €1,000 a month, material for one vaccination costs €10. What are total costs at 0, 50 and 100 vaccinations?
RiešenieSolution

0 očkovaní: 1 000 + 0 = 1 000 € (len nájom). 50 očkovaní: 1 000 + 500 = 1 500 €. 100 očkovaní: 1 000 + 1 000 = 2 000 €. Nájom ostáva rovnaký, materiál rastie.

0 vaccinations: 1,000 + 0 = €1,000 (rent only). 50: 1,000 + 500 = €1,500. 100: 1,000 + 1,000 = €2,000. Rent stays the same, material rises.

Sunk costs are money already spent that we cannot get back.

JednoduchoSimply Čo je preč, je preč. Pri rozhodovaní sa na ne nepozeráme.What is gone is gone. We ignore them when deciding.

Example: a farmer says "I've already spent €800 treating this cow, so I must keep treating her". Those €800 are gone whatever he decides. The only sensible question is: will further treatment bring more than it costs?

1.5 Krátke a dlhé obdobie

1.5 The short and the long run

The short run is a period in which at least one thing in the practice cannot change – mostly the building and expensive equipment, which we pay for even when unused.

PríkladExample Keď pribudnú pacienti, klinika predĺži ordinačné hodiny. Druhú operačnú sálu však rýchlo nepostaví.With more patients, the clinic extends its hours. It cannot quickly build a second operating room.

The long run is a period long enough to change absolutely everything: build, buy equipment, hire vets or close the practice. That is why there are no fixed costs in the long run.

There have long been too many patients. The owner decides to open a second surgery in two years.

Fixné vstupy

Fixed inputs

v krátkom období ich nezmeníme

cannot change in the short run

  • budova a počet ordinácií
  • operačná sála
  • RTG a ultrazvuk
  • laboratórne prístroje
  • služobné vozidlo
  • stály tím lekárov
  • building and number of surgeries
  • operating room
  • X-ray and ultrasound
  • laboratory equipment
  • company vehicle
  • permanent team of vets

Variabilné vstupy

Variable inputs

meníme ich podľa počtu pacientov

change with the number of patients

  • lieky a vakcíny
  • spotrebný materiál
  • hodiny práce a nadčasy
  • brigádnici a výpomoc
  • energia na prevádzku
  • krmivá a tovar na predaj
  • medicines and vaccines
  • consumables
  • working hours and overtime
  • temporary staff and helpers
  • energy to run the clinic
  • feed and goods for sale
Fixný vstup vytvára fixný náklad, variabilný vstup vytvára variabilný náklad.
A fixed input creates a fixed cost; a variable input creates a variable cost.

Krátke obdobie nie je určené kalendárom

The short run is not set by the calendar

What matters is whether everything can change, not the number of months. The boundary is set by the slowest input: in a clinic it can be a year; on a farm building a new barn, ten years.

StrataLossfirma môže pracovať aj so stratou – fixné náklady platí tak či taka firm can work at a loss – it pays fixed costs anywayak je dlhodobo stratová, z trhu odídeif it keeps making a loss, it leaves the market
Example: rent of €1,000 a month is a fixed cost today, because the lease runs for another year. When it ends, the owner need not renew it – in the long run this cost can change.

1.6 Priemerné a hraničné náklady

1.6 Average and marginal cost

Teória

Theory

Pri rozhodovaní nám nestačí vedieť, koľko stojí celý mesiac. Potrebujeme vedieť, koľko stojí jeden pacient. Môžeme sa pýtať dvoma spôsobmi: koľko stojí priemerný pacient a koľko stojí ešte jeden ďalší pacient.

For decisions it is not enough to know what the whole month costs. We need to know what one patient costs. We can ask in two ways: what does the average patient cost, and what does one more patient cost.

DefiníciaDefinition Priemerné náklady sú celkové náklady vydelené počtom pacientov.Average cost is total cost divided by the number of patients.

JednoduchoSimply Koľko stojí jeden pacient „v priemere“, vrátane časti nájmu. What one patient costs "on average", including a share of rent.

DefiníciaDefinition Hraničné náklady sú o koľko stúpnu celkové náklady, keď ošetríme ešte jedného pacienta.Marginal cost is how much total cost rises when we treat one more patient.

JednoduchoSimply Koľko ma bude stáť ešte jeden pacient dnes popoludní?What will one more patient cost me this afternoon?

Marginal revenue is how much sales rise when we treat one more patient. If the price is fixed, marginal revenue equals the price.

JednoduchoSimply Koľko mi prinesie ešte jeden pacient? What will one more patient bring me?

SkratkaAbbreviationSlovamiIn words
TRtržby (celkové príjmy)sales (total revenue)
TCcelkové nákladytotal cost
FCfixné nákladyfixed costs
ACpriemerné náklady na pacientaaverage cost per patient
MChraničné náklady – cena ešte jedného pacientamarginal cost – cost of one more patient
MRhraničný príjem – čo prinesie ešte jeden pacientmarginal revenue – what one more patient brings
Pcena jedného výkonuprice of one service
Qpočet výkonov (pacientov)number of services (patients)
Dôležité: do hraničných nákladov nepatrí nájom. Keď príde ďalší pacient, nájom sa nezvýši. Zvýši sa len spotreba materiálu a čas sestry.
Important: rent does not belong in marginal cost. When another patient comes, rent does not rise. Only material use and nurse time rise.
Otázka pre študentov:Question for students: Pri 4 pacientoch stojí zmena 135 €, pri 5 pacientoch 160 €. Koľko stál piaty pacient? With 4 patients the shift costs €135, with 5 patients €160. What did the fifth patient cost?
RiešenieSolution

160 − 135 = 25 €. To sú hraničné náklady piateho pacienta.

160 − 135 = €25. That is the marginal cost of the fifth patient.

Total costs are €4,600 for 200 vaccinations. What is the average cost of one vaccination?
RiešenieSolution

4,600 ÷ 200 = €23. Compared with the price, it shows whether we earn on each service. As services grow, average cost first falls, because fixed costs are shared among more patients.

1.7 Prečo je každý ďalší pacient drahší

1.7 Why each extra patient costs more

Teória

Theory

Ambulancia má len jednu ordináciu a jedného lekára.

Ekonómia to volá zákon klesajúcich výnosov: ak do rovnakej ordinácie pridávame stále viac pacientov, každý ďalší je ťažšie a drahšie zvládnuť. Rovnako na farme: prvé kilogramy jadrového krmiva výrazne zvýšia dojivosť, ďalšie už menej, a príliš veľa jadra môže kravám spôsobiť acidózu bachora.

A practice has only one consulting room and one vet. The first patients go quickly. But when the waiting room fills up, the vet is tired, everything takes longer and the nurse must stay overtime at a premium. So the next patient costs more than the previous one.

Economics calls this the law of diminishing returns: if we keep adding patients to the same consulting room, each one is harder and costlier to handle. The same on a farm: the first kilograms of concentrate raise milk yield a lot, further ones less, and too much concentrate can cause rumen acidosis.

Čo si zapamätať: hraničné náklady najprv mierne klesajú (tím sa rozbehne), potom rastú (preťaženie). Preto sa neoplatí robiť „čo najviac“.
Remember: marginal cost first falls slightly (the team gets going), then rises (overload). That is why doing "as much as possible" does not pay.

1.8 Kto určuje cenu?

1.8 Who sets the price?

DefiníciaDefinition Dokonalá konkurencia: veľa predajcov predáva úplne rovnaký produkt. Nikto nemôže zmeniť cenu – každý je cenový príjemca.Perfect competition: many sellers sell exactly the same product. Nobody can change the price – everyone is a price-taker.

JednoduchoSimply Ak zdvihnem cenu, zákazníci odídu k susedovi. If I raise my price, customers go to the neighbour.

Example: milk, grain or slaughter pigs. A farmer cannot say "my milk is better, I'll sell it dearer". He gets the market price. He can earn more only by cutting costs – for example with a healthier herd. This is where the vet helps.

Imperfect competition: products differ (in quality, location, reputation). The firm can set its own price – it is a price-maker.

JednoduchoSimply Klient príde aj cez celé mesto a zaplatí viac, lebo verí svojmu lekárovi.A client crosses town and pays more because they trust their vet.

TrhMarketKto určuje cenuWho sets the price
mlieko, obilie, ošípanémilk, grain, pigstrh – chovateľ je cenový príjemcathe market – the farmer is a price-taker
veterinárne ambulancie v mesteveterinary clinics in townambulancia sama, ale musí sledovať konkurenciuthe clinic itself, but it must watch competitors
výrobcovia vakcín a liekovvaccine and drug makersniekoľko veľkých firiem – majú veľkú silu nad cenoua few large firms – strong control over price
In the following sections, for simplicity, we assume a fixed price: the practice takes the usual price in town. So each extra patient brings exactly this price.

1.9 Pravidlo maximalizácie zisku

1.9 The profit-maximisation rule

Ešte jeden pacient?

One more patient?

„Vezmem ešte jedného pacienta?“ Túto otázku si lekár kladie každý deň. Pravidlo maximalizácie zisku na ňu odpovedá jednou vetou: vezmi ho, ak ti prinesie viac, ako ťa bude stáť.

"Shall I take one more patient?" A vet asks this every day. The profit-maximisation rule answers in one sentence: take them if they bring in more than they cost.

DefiníciaDefinition Pravidlo maximalizácie zisku: zisk je najvyšší, keď ošetríme všetkých pacientov, ktorí prinesú aspoň toľko, koľko stoja. Ekonómovia to zapisujú skratkou MR = MC (hraničný príjem = hraničné náklady). The profit-maximisation rule: profit is highest when we treat all patients who bring in at least as much as they cost. Economists write it as MR = MC (marginal revenue = marginal cost).

JednoduchoSimply Pokračuj, kým sa ďalší pacient oplatí. Keď by stál viac, ako prinesie, prestaň.Keep going while the next patient pays off. When they would cost more than they bring, stop.

Teória

Theory

Ako sa mení zisk s každým pacientom. Keď ošetríme ešte jedného pacienta, tržby stúpnu o to, čo zaplatí (cena), a náklady stúpnu o to, čo nás stál (hraničné náklady). Zisk sa teda zmení o rozdiel: cena mínus hraničné náklady.

Prirovnanie ku kopcu.

How profit changes with each patient. When we treat one more patient, sales rise by what they pay (the price) and costs rise by what they cost us (marginal cost). So profit changes by the difference: price minus marginal cost.

The hill. Imagine profit as a hill and each patient as one step. While a patient brings more than they cost, we go uphill. When the next patient would cost more than they bring, we would go downhill. The top of the hill is the last patient who still pays off.

Note: the highest profit is not at the largest number of patients. The last patients in an overloaded shift are expensive (overtime, fatigue) and can reduce profit.

Ďalší pacient…The next patient…ZiskProfitČo urobiťWhat to do
prinesie viac, ako stojíbrings more than they coststúpnerisesprijaťaccept

prinesie menej, ako stojíbrings less than they costklesnefallsneprijať (riešiť inak)do not accept (solve differently)

With a fixed price it is even simpler. Each extra patient brings exactly the price, for example €40. So we just compare the price with what the next patient costs: while the price is higher, it pays to continue. That is why with a fixed price the rule is also written as P = MC (price = marginal cost).

1.10 Krátkodobá rovnováha, strata a bod zastavenia

1.10 Short-run equilibrium, loss and the shutdown point

DefiníciaDefinition Krátkodobá rovnováha je stav, keď firma nemá dôvod meniť počet výkonov. Nastáva pri objeme, kde MR = MC: firma tam dosahuje najvyšší možný zisk alebo najmenšiu možnú stratu a každá zmena by jej výsledok zhoršila.Short-run equilibrium is when the firm has no reason to change its volume. It occurs where MR = MC: the firm reaches the highest possible profit or the smallest possible loss, and any change would make its result worse.

JednoduchoSimply Rovnováha znamená pokoj – ďalší výkon by stál viac, než prinesie, menej by zisk znížilo.Equilibrium means rest – one more service would cost more than it brings; fewer would lower profit.

Zisk alebo strata v rovnováhe?

Profit or loss in equilibrium?

Zistíme to porovnaním ceny s priemernými nákladmi.

We find out by comparing the price with average cost.

Teória

Theory

Cena sa môže zmeniť. Napríklad v meste otvorí nová klinika s akciovými cenami a Jana musí cenu znížiť.

The price can change. For example, a new clinic with discount prices opens in town and Jana must lower her price. But she must pay the fixed costs (€60) even if she does not open the shift. So she does not ask "will I earn?" but "do I lose less by opening or by closing?"

The rule in wordsIf the price covers at least material and work per patient, it pays to open – even if we do not earn the full rent. If it does not even cover material and work, it is better to close.

Minimising a loss: if a loss cannot be avoided, the firm keeps it as small as possible. It must pay fixed costs even if it stops; if sales cover at least variable costs, the rest helps pay fixed costs and the loss shrinks.

PríkladExample Farma pri výrobe stráca 500 € mesačne, pri zastavení by stratila 2 000 € (fixné náklady). Oplatí sa vyrábať.Producing, the farm loses €500 a month; stopping, it would lose €2,000 (fixed costs). It should produce.

DefiníciaDefinition Bod zastavenia je cena, pri ktorej tržby pokryjú už len variabilné náklady (cena = priemerné variabilné náklady). Ak cena klesne ešte nižšie, každý ďalší výkon stratu zväčší a v krátkom období je lepšie činnosť dočasne zastaviť.The shutdown point is the price at which sales cover only variable costs (price = average variable cost). If the price falls lower, every extra service enlarges the loss, and in the short run it is better to stop temporarily.

A night emergency service brings €40 per case; variable costs (overtime, energy) are €55. It does not pay.

Príklad: priemerné variabilné náklady 20 €, priemerné 30 € na výkon. Pri cene 25 € vyrábame so stratou, pri 18 € zastavíme.

Example: avg. variable cost €20, avg. cost €30. At €25 we produce at a loss; at €18 we stop.

Block 2: Practice – examples from the simplest to the hardest

2.1 Príklady od najjednoduchších po najťažší

2.1 Examples from the simplest to the hardest

How to work with the examples: try to answer first, then open the solution. The examples go from the simplest to the hardest: first just comparing two numbers, then monthly profit, then division. The hardest is Dr. Jana's worked example in section 2.2, where all the steps come together.

Úroveň 1 – porovnať dve čísla

Level 1 – compare two numbers

Oplatí sa jeden ďalší výkon? Stačí odčítať náklady od ceny.

Does one more service pay? Just subtract the cost from the price.

Príklad 1: Prijať ešte jedného pacienta?

Example 1: Accept one more patient?

Vyšetrenie stojí 30 €. Ďalší pacient by Janu stál 22 € (materiál a čas sestry). Ešte ďalší by už stál 34 €, lebo sestra by musela ostať nadčas.

A check-up costs €30. The next patient would cost Jana €22 (material and nurse time). The one after would cost €34 because the nurse would have to stay overtime.

Question: Is it worth accepting the first and the second of them?

Riešenie krok za krokomStep-by-step solution
  1. Prvý pacientThe first patient

Ako postupujeme: porovnáme, čo prinesie a čo stojí.

How we do it: compare what they bring and what they cost.

    30 − 22 =30 − 22 =+8 €+€8

Čo to znamená: prinesie viac, ako stojí. Oplatí sa – zisk stúpne o 8 €.

What it means: brings more than they cost. It pays – profit rises by €8.

  2. Druhý pacientThe second patient

    Ako postupujeme: to isté porovnanie.

How we do it: the same comparison.

    30 − 34 =30 − 34 =−4 €−€4

Čo to znamená: stojí viac, ako prinesie. Neoplatí sa – zisk by klesol o 4 €. Lepšie ho objednať na iný deň.

What it means: costs more than they bring. It does not pay – profit would fall by €4. Better to book them for another day.

Príklad 2: Kastrácie pre útulok za nižšiu cenu

Example 2: Cheaper neutering for a shelter

Materiál a čas sestry stoja 25 €. V utorok popoludní má klinika voľno a nájom je už zaplatený.

A shelter offers €35 per cat neutering (the normal price is €80). Material and nurse time cost €25. On Tuesday afternoon the clinic is free and rent is already paid.

Otázka: Oplatí sa urobiť 10 kastrácií?

Question: Is it worth doing 10 neuterings?

Riešenie krok za krokomStep-by-step solution

How we do it: rent does not change; we compare only the price and the extra cost.

    35 − 25 =35 − 25 =+10 €+€10

Čo to znamená: každá kastrácia prinesie 10 €.

What it means: each neutering brings €10.

  2. Desať kastráciíTen neuterings

    Ako postupujeme: vynásobíme počtom.

How we do it: multiply by the number.

    10 × 10 =10 × 10 =+100 €+€100

Čo to znamená: oplatí sa – zisk stúpne o 100 € a klinika pomôže útulku. Platí to len vtedy, ak má voľný čas a neodmietne kvôli tomu bežných klientov.

What it means: it pays – profit rises by €100 and the clinic helps the shelter. This holds only if it has free time and does not turn away regular clients.

Úroveň 2 – zisk za mesiac alebo za deň

Level 2 – profit for a month or a day

Vypočítame tržby, náklady a ich rozdiel.

We calculate sales, costs and their difference.

Príklad 3: Zisk z očkovania mačiek

Example 3: Profit from cat vaccinations

Ambulancia očkuje mačky. Jedno očkovanie stojí 30 €, vakcína a materiál 10 €. Nájom a ostatné fixné náklady sú 1 000 € mesačne. Za mesiac urobí 80 očkovaní.

A practice vaccinates cats. One vaccination costs €30, vaccine and material €10. Rent and other fixed costs are €1,000 a month. It does 80 vaccinations a month.

Otázka: Aký je zisk za mesiac?

Question: What is the monthly profit?

Riešenie krok za krokomStep-by-step solution
  1. TržbySales

    Ako postupujeme: cenu vynásobíme počtom.

How we do it: multiply the price by the number.

    30 × 80 =30 × 80 =2 400 €€2,400

Čo to znamená: ambulancia utŕži 2 400 €.

What it means: the practice takes in €2,400.

How we do it: add material for all vaccinations to rent.

    1 000 + 10 × 80 =1,000 + 10 × 80 =1 800 €€1,800

Čo to znamená: náklady sú 1 800 €.

What it means: costs are €1,800.

  3. ZiskProfit

    Ako postupujeme: tržby mínus náklady.

How we do it: sales minus costs.

    2 400 − 1 800 =2,400 − 1,800 =+600 €+€600

Čo to znamená: ambulancia zarobí 600 € mesačne.

What it means: the practice earns €600 a month.

Príklad 4: Otvoriť v sobotu?

Example 4: Open on Saturday?

Ak ambulancia otvorí v sobotu, zaplatí sestre a za energie 100 €. Príde asi 6 pacientov, každý zaplatí 30 € a materiál na jedného stojí 5 €.

If the practice opens on Saturday, it pays €100 for the nurse and energy. About 6 patients come, each pays €30 and material per patient costs €5.

Otázka: Oplatí sa otvoriť?

Question: Does it pay to open?

Riešenie krok za krokomStep-by-step solution
  1. TržbySales

Ako postupujeme: počet pacientov × cena.

How we do it: patients × price.

    6 × 30 =6 × 30 =180 €€180

Čo to znamená: v sobotu utŕži 180 €.

What it means: it takes in €180 on Saturday.

  2. Sobotné nákladySaturday costs

Ako postupujeme: sestra a energie + materiál. Nájom nepočítame – platí sa aj tak.

How we do it: nurse and energy + material. Rent is not counted – it is paid anyway.

    100 + 6 × 5 =100 + 6 × 5 =130 €€130

Čo to znamená: sobota stojí navyše 130 €.

What it means: Saturday costs an extra €130.

  3. VýsledokResult

Ako postupujeme: tržby mínus sobotné náklady.

How we do it: sales minus Saturday costs.

    180 − 130 =180 − 130 =+50 €+€50

Čo to znamená: oplatí sa – sobota prinesie 50 € navyše.

What it means: it pays – Saturday brings an extra €50.

Úroveň 3 – koľko výkonov treba

Level 3 – how many services are needed

Pribudne delenie: koľko výkonov zaplatí nájom.

Division is added: how many services pay the rent.

Príklad 5: Koľko očkovaní treba, aby ambulancia nebola v strate?

Example 5: How many vaccinations to avoid a loss?

Rovnaká ambulancia ako v príklade 3: cena 30 €, materiál 10 €, fixné náklady 1 000 €.

The same practice as in example 3: price €30, material €10, fixed costs €1,000.

Otázka: Pri koľkých očkovaniach vyjde ambulancia na nulu?

Question: At how many vaccinations does the practice break even?

Riešenie krok za krokomStep-by-step solution
  1. Koľko zostane z jedného očkovaniaWhat is left from one vaccination

Ako postupujeme: od ceny odpočítame materiál.

How we do it: subtract material from the price.

    30 − 10 =30 − 10 =20 €€20

Čo to znamená: z každého očkovania zostane 20 € na nájom.

What it means: €20 of each vaccination is left for rent.

  2. Počet očkovaníNumber of vaccinations

How we do it: divide rent by what is left from one vaccination.

    1 000 ÷ 20 =1,000 ÷ 20 =50 očkovaní50 vaccinations

What it means: at 50 vaccinations profit is zero. Each further vaccination brings €20 profit.

Príklad 6: Tabuľka – kedy je zisk najvyšší?

Example 6: A table – when is profit highest?

The price (MR) is €30 per treatment, fixed costs €40 a day. Total costs for different numbers of treatments are in the table.

Otázka: Doplňte hraničné náklady a zisk.

What it means: profit grows while marginal cost is below €30. At 6 treatments MC = MR = €30 and profit is highest (€35; the sixth treatment neither raises nor lowers it). The seventh costs €40 but brings only €30, so profit falls to €25.

Úroveň 4 – najťažší: všetko spolu

Level 4 – the hardest: everything together

Riešený príklad MVDr. Jany v časti 2.2: tabuľka s 8 pacientmi, náklady každého ďalšieho pacienta a hľadanie najvyššieho zisku.

Dr. Jana's worked example in section 2.2: a table with 8 patients, the cost of each extra patient and finding the highest profit.

→ Pokračovať na najťažší príklad (2.2)→ Continue to the hardest example (2.2)

2.2 Najťažší príklad: MVDr. Jana – koľko vyšetrení za popoludnie?

2.2 The hardest example: Dr. Jana – how many check-ups per afternoon?

Why this example is the hardest: it combines everything from examples 1 to 6. We calculate total costs and the cost of each extra patient, compare them with the price (as in example 1) and look for the number of patients with the highest profit – not for one number but for 8 options at once.

MVDr.

Check in the "Shift profit" column: profit can also be found by adding the change in profit to the profit in the previous row. For example at 3 check-ups: −18 + 23 = +€5. Both methods must give the same result.
Result: Jana earns the most at 6 check-ups – a profit of €45. Green rows pay off, the yellow one is the last that pays, red rows do not.

Riešenie krok za krokom

Step-by-step solution

How we do it: we add material and work for all patients to the €60 fixed costs.

    6 vyšetrení: 60 + 135 =6 check-ups: 60 + 135 =195 €€195

Čo to znamená: šesť vyšetrení stojí spolu 195 €. Aj bez pacienta zaplatí Jana 60 €.

What it means: six check-ups cost €195 in total. Even with no patient Jana pays €60.

  2. Koľko stojí každý ďalší pacientWhat each extra patient costs

How we do it: we subtract the cost in the row above from the cost in the row.

    6. pacient: 195 − 160 =6th patient: 195 − 160 =35 €€35
    7. pacient: 240 − 195 =7th patient: 240 − 195 =45 €€45

Čo to znamená: prví pacienti stoja okolo 20 €, neskorší viac – Jana je unavená a sestra ostáva nadčas.

What it means: the first patients cost about €20, later ones more – Jana is tired and the nurse stays overtime.

  3. Porovnáme s cenouCompare with the price

How we do it: each patient brings €40. We check whether that is more than they cost.

    6. pacient: 40 − 35 =6th patient: 40 − 35 =+5 €+€5
    7. pacient: 40 − 45 =7th patient: 40 − 45 =−5 €−€5

Čo to znamená: šiesty pacient zisk ešte zvýši o 5 €, siedmy by ho o 5 € znížil.

What it means: the sixth patient still raises profit by €5, the seventh would lower it by €5.

  4. ZiskProfit

Ako postupujeme: tržby mínus celkové náklady.

How we do it: sales minus total cost.

What it means: the highest profit is €45 at 6 check-ups. At 7 it would be €40, at 8 only €20.

Neznamená to odmietnuť pacienta.
This does not mean turning a patient away. An acute case is treated. The table only shows that a permanently overloaded shift is expensive. The solution is an appointment system or another vet.

We now check the rule from section 1.10 on Dr. Jana's numbers: what happens when the price of a check-up falls from €40 to €30 or €15?

  1. Cena 30 €Price €30

Ako postupujeme: Jana robí vyšetrenia, kým pacient stojí menej ako 30 €. Piaty stojí 25 € (áno), šiesty 35 € (nie) → 5 vyšetrení.

How we do it: Jana does check-ups while a patient costs less than €30. The fifth costs €25 (yes), the sixth €35 (no) → 5 check-ups.

    5 × 30 − 160 =5 × 30 − 160 =−10 €−€10

Pacienti jej zaplatia materiál a prácu a ešte časť nájmu. Otvoriť sa oplatí.

What it means: Jana loses €10, but if she did not work she would lose €60. Patients pay for material and work and part of the rent. Opening pays.

  2. Cena 15 €Price €15

How we do it: even the cheapest patient costs more than €15 in material and work. The best option when open is 1 patient.

    1 × 15 − 80 =1 × 15 − 80 =−65 €−€65

Čo to znamená: každý pacient by Jane prácu len predražil. Lepšie je zmenu neotvoriť.

What it means: every patient would only make things worse. Better not to open the shift.

  1. Zisk = tržby − náklady. Ak sú náklady vyššie, je to strata.
  2. Ekonomický zisk odpočíta aj mzdu, ktorú by majiteľ zarobil inde.
  3. Fixné náklady platíme vždy, variabilné rastú s každým pacientom. Minulé výdavky (utopené náklady) nerozhodujú.
  4. Hraničné náklady = koľko stojí ešte jeden pacient. Pri preťažení rastú.
  5. Pravidlo: ošetri každého pacienta, ktorý prinesie aspoň toľko, koľko stojí (MR = MC, pri pevnej cene P = MC).
  6. Pracovať sa oplatí aj so stratou, ak cena pokryje aspoň materiál a prácu. Inak je lepšie zatvoriť.
  1. Profit = sales − costs. If costs are higher, it is a loss.
  2. Economic profit also deducts the salary the owner would earn elsewhere.
  3. Fixed costs are always paid, variable ones rise with each patient. Past spending (sunk costs) does not count.
  4. Marginal cost = what one more patient costs. It rises with overload.
  5. The rule: treat every patient who brings at least what they cost (MR = MC; with a fixed price P = MC).
  6. It pays to operate even at a loss if the price covers at least material and work. Otherwise it is better to close.

Review questions

1. Ambulancia utŕži 5 000 € a náklady sú 4 200 €. Aký je zisk?1. A practice takes in €5,000 and costs are €4,200. What is the profit?

OdpoveďAnswer

5 000 − 4 200 = 800 €.

5,000 − 4,200 = €800.

2. Uveďte dva fixné a dva variabilné náklady ambulancie.2. Name two fixed and two variable costs of a practice.

OdpoveďAnswer

Fixné: nájom, leasing prístroja. Variabilné: vakcíny, striekačky.

Fixed: rent, equipment lease. Variable: vaccines, syringes.

3. Prečo do nákladov ďalšieho pacienta nepočítame nájom?3. Why is rent not counted in the cost of an extra patient?

OdpoveďAnswer

Lebo nájom sa s ďalším pacientom nezvýši. Platíme ho aj bez pacienta.

Because rent does not rise with an extra patient. We pay it even with no patient.

4. Vyšetrenie stojí 50 €, ďalší pacient by stál 42 €. Oplatí sa?4. A check-up costs €50, the next patient would cost €42. Does it pay?

OdpoveďAnswer

Áno. 50 − 42 = 8 €, zisk stúpne o 8 €.

Yes. 50 − 42 = €8, profit rises by €8.

Why is the highest profit not at the largest number of patients?

OdpoveďAnswer

Lebo poslední pacienti v preplnenej zmene stoja viac, ako prinesú (nadčasy, únava), a zisk znižujú.

Because the last patients in an overloaded shift cost more than they bring (overtime, fatigue) and reduce profit.

When does it pay to open even if the practice makes a loss?

OdpoveďAnswer

Keď cena pokryje aspoň materiál a prácu.

When the price covers at least material and work. The loss is then smaller than when closed, because rent would be paid anyway.

3.2 Cenník a priemerný príjem na pacienta

3.2 Price list and average revenue per patient

Prečo potrebujeme priemerný príjem

Why we need the average revenue

Cenník je podklad pre bod zvratu. Na výpočet potrebujeme jedno číslo: koľko v priemere prinesie jeden pacient. Pozor – nestačí spriemerovať ceny v cenníku. Lacných výkonov (vyšetrenie, očkovanie) je oveľa viac ako drahých operácií, preto počítame vážený priemer: tržby spolu ÷ počet výkonov.

The price list is the basis for the break-even point. We need one number: how much one patient brings on average. Careful – averaging the prices in the list is not enough. Cheap services (check-ups, vaccinations) are far more frequent than expensive operations, so we calculate a weighted average: total sales ÷ number of services.

Úloha: Doplňte tržby a vypočítajte priemerný príjem na pacienta.

Task: Fill in the sales and calculate average revenue per patient.

The trap: a simple average of prices is (30 + 40 + 80 + 160 + 40 + 65 + 20) ÷ 7 = €62.14. That is half again more than reality, because the expensive dog neutering is done only 10 times. With this number the break-even point would come out too low and the practice would look safer than it is.

Realistické ceny: porovnajte svoj cenník s cenníkmi 2–3 skutočných ambulancií vo vašom meste (bývajú na webe). V práci stačí jedna veta: „Ceny som odhadla podľa cenníkov ambulancií v Košiciach.“

Realistic prices: compare your price list with 2–3 real practices in your town (they are often online). One sentence in the work is enough: "Prices are estimated from price lists of practices in Košice."

What it shows: the largest item is wages (43%). This is typical of services – a practice mainly "sells" people's time and expertise. You can write a sentence like this in your own work – it shows you understand the cost structure.

Do not forget the owner's wage. If the vet runs the practice, their wage must be counted as a cost (as at Labka). Otherwise profit looks higher than it is – see economic profit in block 1 (section 1.2).

How we do it: add up all four cost groups from part 3.3. Total costs are everything the practice pays in a month – drugs, rent, wages and accounting. Sales must cover this number for the practice not to make a loss.

    materiálové + prevádzkové + personálne + ostatné = 3 000 + 2 200 + 4 400 + 600 =material + operating + personnel + other = 3,000 + 2,200 + 4,400 + 600 =10 200 €€10,200

Čo to znamená: Labka musí každý mesiac utŕžiť aspoň 10 200 €. To je „latka“, ktorú hľadáme v bode zvratu.

What it means: Labka must take in at least €10,200 every month. That is the "bar" we are looking for in the break-even point.

  2. Úloha 2: Koľko v priemere prinesie jeden pacient?Task 2: How much does one patient bring on average?

How we do it: take monthly sales from part 3.2 and divide them by the number of services. This is a weighted average – it reflects that there are 200 examinations (€30) but only 10 dog neuterings (€160).

    tržby spolu ÷ počet výkonov = 16 000 ÷ 400 =total sales ÷ number of services = 16,000 ÷ 400 =40 €€40

Čo to znamená: každý pacient v priemere prinesie 40 €. Keby sme spriemerovali len ceny v cenníku, vyšlo by 62 € – a bod zvratu by bol nesprávne nízky.

What it means: each patient brings €40 on average. Averaging only the list prices would give €62 – and the break-even would be wrongly low.

  3. Úloha 3: Koľko pacientov mesačne treba na bod zvratu?Task 3: How many patients a month are needed to break even?

How we do it: we ask how many times €40 "fits" into €10,200. Each patient brings €40, so we divide costs by revenue per patient.

What it means: at 255 patients the practice neither earns nor loses. With fewer patients it makes a loss, with more a profit.

Task 4: How many patients is that per working day?

Ako postupujeme: mesačný počet vydelíme 20 pracovnými dňami. Robíme to preto, lebo „255 mesačne“ si nik nevie predstaviť, ale „13 denne“ áno – hneď vidno, či je to reálne.

How we do it: divide the monthly number by 20 working days. We do this because nobody can picture "255 a month", but "13 a day" is easy – you see at once whether it is realistic.

    255 ÷ 20 = 12,75 → zaokrúhlime nahor na255 ÷ 20 = 12.75 → round up to13 pacientov denne13 patients a day

Why round up: 12 patients a day × 20 days = 240, less than 255 – the practice would make a loss. Is it realistic? Yes: at 30 minutes per examination one vet can handle about 16 patients in 8 hours.

  5. Úloha 5: O koľko pacientov je Labka nad bodom zvratu?Task 5: How many patients is Labka above break-even?

How we do it: subtract the break-even (255) from the actual number of patients (400). This difference is the safety margin. We also express it as a percentage.

    400 − 255 =400 − 255 =145 pacientov145 patients
    v percentách: 145 ÷ 400 × 100 =as a percentage: 145 ÷ 400 × 100 =36 %

Čo to znamená: ak by napríklad otvorila nová klinika a Labka stratila až 145 pacientov mesačne (36 %), stále by nebola v strate. Je to dôležitý argument pri opise rizík.

What it means: if, say, a new clinic opened and Labka lost up to 145 patients a month (36%), it would still not make a loss. This is an important argument when describing risks.

Bonus – úlohy 6 až 9: presnejší výpočet (ako v bloku 1 (časť 1.2))

Bonus – tasks 6 to 9: a more precise calculation (as in block 1 (section 1.2))

The simple calculation assumes all costs stay the same. That is not true for material: a vaccine is used only when a patient comes.

  1. Úloha 6: Aké sú fixné náklady?Task 6: What are the fixed costs?

Ako postupujeme: rozdelíme náklady na dve časti. Variabilné rastú s každým pacientom – v Labke je to materiál (3 000 €). Fixné platíme aj vtedy, keď nepríde nikto – nájom, energie, mzdy, poistenie. Fixné náklady dostaneme, keď od celkových odpočítame materiál.

How we do it: split costs into two parts. Variable costs rise with each patient – at Labka that is material (€3,000). Fixed costs are paid even when nobody comes – rent, energy, wages, insurance. We get fixed costs by subtracting material from total costs.

What it means: Labka must pay €7,200 every month even if the practice were empty. (Simplification: wages count as fixed because the vet and nurse are paid regardless of patient numbers.)

  2. Úloha 7: Koľko materiálu spotrebuje jeden pacient?Task 7: How much material does one patient use?

How we do it: divide monthly material by the number of patients. We get the variable cost per patient.

    3 000 ÷ 400 =3,000 ÷ 400 =7,50 € na pacienta€7.50 per patient

Čo to znamená: každý ďalší pacient zvýši náklady len o 7,50 € (vakcína, striekačka, rukavice). Nájom ani mzdy sa s ním nezvýšia.

What it means: each extra patient raises costs by only €7.50 (vaccine, syringe, gloves). Neither rent nor wages rise with them.

  3. Úloha 8: Koľko z jedného pacienta zostane na fixné náklady?Task 8: How much of one patient is left for fixed costs?

How we do it: subtract the patient's material (€7.50) from what the patient brings (€40). The remainder is the contribution margin – the amount with which each patient "pays off" a piece of rent and wages.

    príjem − materiál = 40 − 7,50 =revenue − material = 40 − 7.50 =32,50 €€32.50

Čo to znamená: z každých 40 € ide 7,50 € na materiál a 32,50 € na fixné náklady. Keď sú fixné náklady pokryté, každý ďalší pacient prináša 32,50 € čistého zisku.

What it means: of every €40, €7.50 goes to material and €32.50 to fixed costs. Once fixed costs are covered, each further patient brings €32.50 of pure profit.

  4. Úloha 9: Aký je presný bod zvratu?Task 9: What is the precise break-even point?

How we do it: divide fixed costs by the contribution per patient. We ask: how many patients at €32.50 are needed to pay €7,200?

    fixné náklady ÷ príspevok = 7 200 ÷ 32,50 = 221,5 → nahor nafixed costs ÷ contribution = 7,200 ÷ 32.50 = 221.5 → round up to222 pacientov222 patients
    Kontrola: 222 × 32,50 = 7 215 € ≥ 7 200 € ✓ · 221 × 32,50 = 7 182,50 € < 7 200 € ✗Check: 222 × 32.50 = €7,215 ≥ €7,200 ✓ · 221 × 32.50 = €7,182.50 < €7,200 ✗

Why is it less than 255? The simple calculation counted €3,000 of material even when fewer patients come. In reality, at 222 patients we only use 222 × 7.50 = €1,665 of material. So the simple calculation is cautious (it overestimates), the precise one is more realistic.

How to write it in your work: "The practice needs at least 255 patients a month, about 13 a day, to cover costs. With an expected 400 patients it has a margin of 145 patients (36%). The simple calculation is cautious – if we take into account that material is only paid when there is a patient, about 222 patients are enough."

Reality check: always convert the break-even to a daily figure. If one vet would have to treat 60 patients a day, something is wrong – the prices, the costs or the staffing.

3.5 Opatrenie na zvýšenie ziskovosti

3.5 Measure to increase profitability

Čo je „konkrétne opatrenie s ekonomickým prínosom“

What a "specific measure with economic benefit" is

A good measure has three parts: what exactly we do, what it costs and how much profit changes. Change in profit = what the measure brings extra − what it costs extra. Fixed costs that do not change do not belong in the calculation.

A: „Spravíme viac reklamy.“

A: "We will do more advertising."

Žiadne čísla, žiadny náklad, žiadny konkrétny krok.

No numbers, no cost, no specific step.

B: Ultrazvukové vyšetrenie

B: Ultrasound examination

  • cena vyšetrenia 50 €, materiál 5 €
  • odhad: 15 vyšetrení mesačne

  • dnes 20 klientov mesačne na termín nepríde; systém tieto termíny zaplní
  • pacient prinesie 40 €, materiál 7,50 €
  • the system costs €40 a month
  • today 20 clients a month miss their appointment; the system fills these slots
  • a patient brings €40, material €7.50

D: Zvýšenie cien o 10 % (náročnejšie)

D: Raising prices by 10% (harder)

  • dnešný zisk: 16 000 − 10 200 = 5 800 €
  • average revenue €40 → €44
  • estimate: 20 patients leave (400 → 380)
  • material €7.50 per patient, fixed costs €7,200
  • today's profit: 16,000 − 10,200 = €5,800
The rule for every measureChange in profit = extra revenue − extra costs
We count only what the measure changes. Rent and wages we pay anyway do not belong in the calculation.

Task: By how much does monthly profit change with measures A to D?

Pri každom opatrení postupujeme v rovnakých krokoch: príjmy navyše → náklady navyše → zmena zisku → čo to znamená.

For each measure we follow the same steps: extra revenue → extra costs → change in profit → what it means.

  1. Opatrenie A: „Spravíme viac reklamy.“Measure A: "We will do more advertising."

Ako postupujeme: skúsime použiť pravidlo – a nejde to. Nevieme, koľko reklama stojí, ani koľko pacientov prinesie. Bez týchto dvoch čísel sa zmena zisku nedá vypočítať, preto takéto opatrenie dostane najviac 1 bod.

How we do it: we try to apply the rule – and cannot. We do not know what advertising costs or how many patients it brings. Without these two numbers the change in profit cannot be calculated, so such a measure gets at most 1 point.

    Ako ho opraviť: „Kampaň na sociálnych sieťach za 100 € mesačne, odhad 10 nových pacientov.“ → 10 × 32,50 − 100 =How to fix it: "A social media campaign for €100 a month, estimated 10 new patients." → 10 × 32.50 − 100 =+225 €+€225

What it means: the same idea turns from weak into good when we add what exactly, at what cost and what it brings. (€32.50 is one patient's contribution from task 8 in part 3.4.)

How we do it: Labka offers a new service. Extra revenue is sales from scans. Extra costs are material for each scan and the monthly lease of the machine.

    príjmy navyše: 15 × 50 =extra revenue: 15 × 50 =750 €€750
    náklady navyše: materiál 15 × 5 = 75 € + leasing 300 € =extra costs: material 15 × 5 = €75 + lease €300 =375 €€375
    zmena zisku: 750 − 375 =change in profit: 750 − 375 =+375 €+€375

Čo to znamená: zisk stúpne o 375 € mesačne.

What it means: profit rises by €375 a month. Each scan leaves 50 − 5 = €45, which pays off the lease; once it is paid, the rest goes to profit.

  3. Opatrenie B – koľko ultrazvukov treba, aby sa leasing zaplatil?Measure B – how many scans are needed to pay the lease?

How we do it: this is the break-even of the measure itself. Divide the lease (€300) by what is left from one scan (€45).

    300 ÷ (50 − 5) = 300 ÷ 45 = 6,7 → nahor na300 ÷ (50 − 5) = 300 ÷ 45 = 6.7 → round up to7 vyšetrení mesačne7 scans a month
    Kontrola: 7 × 45 = 315 € ≥ 300 € ✓ · 6 × 45 = 270 € < 300 € ✗Check: 7 × 45 = €315 ≥ €300 ✓ · 6 × 45 = €270 < €300 ✗

Takýto argument znižuje riziko a v práci pôsobí veľmi presvedčivo.

What it means: even if the estimate of 15 scans is too optimistic, 7 are enough for the measure not to lose money. Such an argument lowers the risk and is very convincing in the work.

  4. Opatrenie C: Online objednávanie a SMS pripomienkyMeasure C: Online booking and SMS reminders

How we do it: today 20 clients a month miss their appointment and the vet's time is wasted. The system fills these slots. Extra revenue is sales from 20 patients, extra costs are their material and the system price. Rent and wages are not counted – we pay them now too, while the slots are empty.

    príjmy navyše: 20 × 40 =extra revenue: 20 × 40 =800 €€800
    náklady navyše: materiál 20 × 7,50 = 150 € + systém 40 € =extra costs: material 20 × 7.50 = €150 + system €40 =190 €€190
    zmena zisku: 800 − 190 =change in profit: 800 − 190 =+610 €+€610

Čo to znamená: zisk stúpne o 610 € mesačne za cenu len 40 €. Je to najlacnejšie a najbezpečnejšie opatrenie – nevyžaduje investíciu ani nových klientov, len lepšie využije čas, ktorý už platíme.

What it means: profit rises by €610 a month for only €40. It is the cheapest and safest measure – it needs no investment or new clients, it just makes better use of time we already pay for.

  5. Opatrenie D: Zvýšenie cien o 10 % (náročnejšie)Measure D: Raising prices by 10% (harder)

How we do it: here several things change at once – price and number of patients. So instead of counting "extra" we calculate the whole profit before and after and compare them.

    pred: tržby 400 × 40 = 16 000 − materiál 400 × 7,50 = 3 000 − fixné 7 200 =before: sales 400 × 40 = 16,000 − material 400 × 7.50 = 3,000 − fixed 7,200 =5 800 €€5,800
    po: tržby 380 × 44 = 16 720 − materiál 380 × 7,50 = 2 850 − fixné 7 200 =after: sales 380 × 44 = 16,720 − material 380 × 7.50 = 2,850 − fixed 7,200 =6 670 €€6,670
    zmena zisku: 6 670 − 5 800 =change in profit: 6,670 − 5,800 =+870 €+€870
    Koľko pacientov môže odísť? Nový príspevok 44 − 7,50 = 36,50 €; (5 800 + 7 200) ÷ 36,50 = 356,2 → musí ostať aspoň 357, teda môže odísť najviacHow many patients can leave? New contribution 44 − 7.50 = €36.50; (5,800 + 7,200) ÷ 36.50 = 356.2 → at least 357 must stay, so at most43 pacientov43 patients can leave

What it means: on paper it brings the most (+€870), but it is the riskiest. If clients moved to competitors and more than 43 left, profit would fall below today's €5,800. Mentioning this risk shows well-thought-out economic reasoning.
